We have Ektorp in a rental unit and our own house. The covers are easily removable and wash well. They are best dried on the line on a warm, windy day as that cuts down the ironing and, sometimes, by the time they are stretched back over the base units I don't need to iron the covers but just the cu...

Interesting thought. The last guests were the guests from hell who left a trail of mess and destruction but I can't imagine they took the covers off, washed and ironed them. I did wonder if they had spilt something which has subsequently not quite dried but it wouldn't be on every cover, cushion etc...

White (damp?) marks on 3 piece suite covers
I've just been to a house we look after which is closed for the Winter. The house hasn't been heated but the weather has not dropped below freezing so far this year. I was in the house a few weeks ago and didn't notice any marks on the 3 piece suite covers but did see them today. The covers are dark...

Indeed. Although, to be fair, I did once have a group of three 'youngsters' (early 20s) and I was dreading what they would leave. But, they left everything cleaner than they found it. RAF personnel and used to living in 'quarters' where they had to have everything ready for inspection and leave ever...

If you are 100% sure that the guests caused the damage and you cannot rectify the damage then you should certainly charge the guests. In any case, you could charge for the cleaning time if you feel inclined. Depending on the age of the hob you may not be able to charge full replacement cost. Of cour...

If it's the same company/people then we used them many years ago. We had a couple of weeks booked with them over several years so not great. As I remember, they used to receive the enquiry and then contact us for availability and price and go back to the enquirer. They have probably changed their mo...

Good, first-hand, advice from Origin. Our daughter is 'handicapped' which manifests as having a weak side. It is a mild form of cerebral palsy and similar to having had a stroke. Our daughter has been affected since birth so knows no different and we have not had to make any adaptions to our home fo...

I feel I rather 'hi-jacked' the original very positive post for which I apologise. However, I have to say that having the opportunity to 'unload' pent up frustration, anger, despair etc. here has helped. To be honest, I have no idea what OH and I will do now. I doubt we'll re-open our own gites nor ...

Our lawyer told us that only 80% of insurance claims ever pay out in full. And, all the while they wiggle and delay they have the money they owe you in the bank earning interest so by the time they pay out (if they ever do) the money they pay has been 'mitigated'. And, when they do pay you the sum d...

You may ask, of course. But, I don't think it would be fair to 'name and shame' him here in public and as it happens he is now deceased. He was quite well known amongst the local English community as he spoke good English. His death caused an added complication and delay to the whole legal process b...
