Gites in France

We are about to start our first year of gite rental in France. Up til now I've had a micro-business and was planning to declare the gite earnings in 'any other income'. But I'm thinking of closing the micro down - I know you don't need a siret no. to run a gite but is it as simple as just doing a ta...

Sorry GC - never meant it to come across as brutal. Green is a good calming colour - I think you just need to be careful which green you use!!!! I think classic shades work better than adventurous but thats just my style in general.... and I accept not everyone elses!! I've always been drawn to the ...

That's impressive Catherine - does that include a longer let or are those all one or two week bookings?

Hi Celica - what a great looking place. If I had to sum your site up I'd call it crisp and clean!!! Lovely pics! My only comments would be (IMHO!) is that on the fist page some of the name places don't have capitals (but should) and not sure if you're text is in bold or not but on my pooter it looks...

Much prefer the new look! Its definately much easier on the eye and somehow seems more balanced. Now that you've got a left hand margin - you could play with the heading - I think you may have had it on the left before as someone else made a reference to it. But I think it looks a ton better - sorry...

Cots and highchairs - charge extra?

I was just reading through the tips page and see that you don't recommend charging a surcharge for these extras but I've seen so many ads that do.

Do people generally pay a bit extra or do most of you include it in the overall rental?

The Gardens

Well having got the gite ready we are now turning our attention to getting the gardens ready - we have a south facing walled garden but need to dress it and its looking a bit bare and shabby! Could anyone advise some flowering bushes/plants that could make the place look prettier through the summer....

Hi - I've been posting merrily away but only just found this bit! I'm a relative newcomer to posting but have been reading posts for months - learning how the 'pro's' rent successfully whilst our gite was being renovated. We're now ready and I'm pleased with our bookings thus far.. so fingers crosse...

THere's a Fly in St Malo - they're a little more expensive than Ikea but by the time you've added your delivery cost - not necessarily.

On a very superficial level I clicked in and was immediately drawn to the tone of green - but I didn't like it. I think it makes the page a bit wishy washy and yet the property piccy itself looks lovely so it detracts from the focal point. But I think its the other piccies (especially on your home p...

Hi Susan, I am such a novice I dont reqlly feel qualifed to comment but I love your site (we've already talked about this) but one thing that always grabs me is that you've made your text 'centred' so when I read the titles of the 3 gites I always think it looks a bit untidy - like someone forgot to...

Thank you everyone thus far - I agree with the first piccy - but last summer it was derelect and its only just finished - the piccy of the pool was taken on a freezing day. Having chipped the ice off the pool in our coats, hats and gloves etc, we 'dressed' the pontoon and then a friend added the blu...

Our gite is very humble compared with some on this site - but would appreciate any comments for improvement!
