Re: Bad Review

I’m quite new to review sites and never really thought about responding to positive messages. Apart from thanking them what would be the reason? It shows you read them and that you remember the guests (even if you don't!); it shows you care and that you are pro-active; I'm always aiming to get retu...

We've been on Homeaway.co.uk, and therefore all their group of sites including French ones, for years. Used to pay the annual rental and got a booking or two each year and reasonable enquiries; but no more. Not sure if it is because we are only on commission per booking or because it has just got so...

Thank you Circé! I hadn't seen that text. I think it helps, and I will be ticking the secondary residence box when asked. It all seems to be part of the sweeping up of non registered rentals and undeclared income that the platforms such as AirBnB and HA are obliged to take some responsibility for, a...

Is gîte a primary or secondary residence

I am registering for a new French website advert and have to declare whether the rental is primary or secondary residence, if I answer primary then the 120 day rule applies (of which I was aware but didn't think it affected us) see Connexion article mentioned in post Enforcement powers for Mairies)....

Veragirl, I agree, and I only wish that one could persuade clients to stick to Google maps then there wouldn't be any problems :D Unfortunately it is the onboard satnav systems, some of them anyway, as well as whatever system Airbnb use for location, that don't recognise certain addresses. My onboar...

France where do you buy bedlinens

Any recommendations for where people buy bed linens, sheets, duvet covers, etc. in France? I have bought from the catalogues, La Redoute, Blanche Porte, and I like Ikea cotton duvet covers when I can get to a store and they have what I want, but they don't do 200x200. I am looking for reasonable pri...

Worth a try with the tennis balls, otherwise I also replace pillows quite often and when they become stained, even though I always use undercovers. I buy promos in pairs from the supermarkets, unfortunately quality varies with some good buys, some bad (lumpy or flat), and I don't have two lots of pi...

Re. the AirBnb and any that follow suit, collecting TdeS: I talked to our tourist office and though not happy because they have had to change the website where we declare and they collect the TdeS online (which is very efficient), plus AirBnB only collect at one rate!! they have completely changed t...

I'm in rural France and I do have a problem with the address, I currently appear to have gîtes in two different communes! When I was putting in the address it wasn't being recognised by their system despite being a lieu dit on all maps and a google business! I contacted AirBnB (I think you can book ...

I think it is trial and error, finding out what works for you and suits your property. Pour les vacances is a very good French site, very simple, personally run, not expensive. So refreshing in these days where everyone else is part of a big chain. If you are going to sign up, let us know as there i...

Airbnb payments via Paypal

If accepting payments by Airbnb via Paypal, would this need to be a Paypal business account? I don't get many bookings through Airbnb and I don't take many payments via Paypal, just the occasional deposit for a rental, so my Paypal account is currently only a personal one. But I don't want them bloc...

We have been classified since 2010 when it was just a visit from local tourist office; now as wendyandchris says, it is someone from GdeF inspecting and it was a whole lot more complicated, she had a list of boxes to tick and if we got over a certain percentage we retained our 3 star rating. I would...

Thanks for joining this conversation; good to hear some of you got some bookings and I agree about German speaking nationalities generally being good guests.

I have had a couple of bookings recently through Airbnb, both French.
