The antenni I am talking about, are directional antenni, and must be both aimed at each other. They are useless for extending the range of wifi for roaming. You need a multi-directional antenna. They also exist, if you want to extend range outside.

Assuming the first router is in a building and not outside, how do you get a line of sight? Don't you have at least one wall to get through?
You need an external antenna on each side. The router and bridge may both be inside and nice and warm, but the antenna is outside.

I did say "You need line of sight between the two for this to work."

That means no granite walls in between. You can get up to 5 km or so with this system (or so the theory goes)

This is perhaps going a bit far, but since you only live 5 mins away, with a wifi extender, and a couple of good point to point antenni, you could get wifi in the gite without a phone line. Is that 5 mins walk, or 5 mins by car? You need line of sight between the two for this to work. I've probably ...

How can I put this? She's in her sixties. Perhaps just wait, and let nature take it's course.

Having said that, she could live until well into her nineties, perhaps you need another solution.

Another 2 weeks booked. I'm very very pleasantly surprised. That's 8 weeks booked for 2010 already. And we're in a recession! What happens when the good times roll?

Like Blue (or white) shutters this is our first year, and we started late (around March). We were pleasantly surprised this year, and were full all summer. We have also already booked 6 weeks next year, and had to refuse another 3 two week bookings because of overlapping weeks(why does everybody wan...

Actually, a complete re-install may be a lot faster (and I always would advise it anyway) than an upgrade. There are reports of this taking all day. Having said that, a full re-install can take that long too!

Vista is really not as bad as it is made out to be. It got a bad reputation, and has never managed to shrug it off. You'll probably find that buying a machine with Vista now, entitles you to a free upgrade to Windows 7. So I'd go for the vista machine.

What does too old mean though? (I mean about the teapots and pans) As long as they are clean, I don't think you're expected to change them every 5 minutes!

I think the £105 for the build is very cheap, but is offset be the maintenance. My guess is that had you somehow arranged for just a site build, and no maintenance contract, the build cost would have been much higher. the domain is probably in his name, and even if ultimately you paid for it, legall...
