it sounds to me like it's going to be quite a tight fit for you to have bath and shower, and I think shower over bath is not great (safety, and not that nice to use on holiday). I get a lot of families with children in my three bed cottage, which has en suite and family bathroom. Did away with the b...

just found this, looks good re marketing

So, in the search to become less dependant on the hideous HA, I started looking at birdwatching holidays (my cottage fits that bill) and found this promising looking site, cottage cooperative. If you click on advertising, lots of sites come up (dog friendly, pub friendly, real fire, beach holiday, g...

Hi Steve p. Good to hear it's worked so well for you. I'm going to look into it for my area and was looking for other ways to promote the cottage. Been running it successfully with OD (pain in the neck now!) since end 2012. Have always taken up to two dogs, and charge £20 per dog for extra cleaning,...

rates homeaway OD

Thanks, I hadn't realised the old rates table have vamoosed and new system. Rates tables had same issues re not enough flexibility (e.g 2 night breaks have to be more than a nightly rate x 2 for a weeks or 4 night stay, otherwise not making any money, but have never been able to sort that) so I have...

home away owners direct

I spoke to them last week (getting confused guests and me too re whether booked or not, and if I reply by text guest doesn't come back quick enough so booking expires and they get a cancelled message from the site...yes, the sound you hear is grinding teeth to tiny stumps). They tell me that everyon...

re: home away owners direct

Hi, been a while since I called in here. I too having so many issues with OD since Homeway took over, to the point I seriously considered selling the cottage, but can't really afford to lose that income. Some months ago I rang them re the online payments and they told me they were recognised the pro...

well, decision made. I'm going to put the cottage out to normal long term rental with an agent mid march (i need it a bit in the winter for various reasons myself). It'll make nearly as much as running it as a holiday let, and although we won't be able to use it, it's a relief not to have to deal wi...

Hi Rosebud I haven't broken it down. But just a few through my own website (having a new one created in wordpress with optimisation built in...if i continue to do this) Very dependant on OD for all the rest though, as didn't sign up with any others (who all seem to be as bad as each other now). This...

Ok, so I have now got to the bottom of this. The service fee is not taken out of our money. There is a problem however for all of us re the impossible rates page. They are "soon" rolling out a better system to reflect our rates better. Currently i have no way (and known for ages thats so) ...

Hello Mouse Yes, to renew listing with OD you have to accept both online booking and online payments, no options. I am contacting them this morning, because the "service fee" 5-12% plus vat seems to be taken out of my rate. So, that £220 the guest paid online has come to me as £196! Well, ...
