That is iunteresting but without prying into your personal circumstances, if your holiday let income is say £15K, then that would suggest that your income from elsewhere is less than £45K. That to me, still seems to be a high threshold but obviously more reasonable than the Welsh stance.

The injustice is that unless you only have a FHL as your sole form of income, you are unlikely to qualify in Gwynedd. Surely that can't be legal.

FHLs don't bring much money in and it has to be 50% of your income. If you do the maths, you would need to earn about half minimum wage to qualify.

The Gwynedd Council requirements seem unreasonable and are not likely to be met by most FHL owners. This will have a big impact on many. How can this be justified when other counties are no asking for so many hoops to be jumped through.
I'm not sure who business owners can turn to for justice.

The Welsh authorities are paying out grants to all businesses except self catering. Gwynedd paid out £13M today. Self catering accommodation payments have been delayed pending further investigation. The issue is that there is a belief that some 2nd home owners have flipped their home from council ta...

Good luck with Gwynedd, they've ballsed up apparently allowing some 2nd home owners to flip to rates avoiding a council tax premium, did nothing about that and are now planning on avoiding paying legitimate FHLs the grant that the rest of the nation will receive.

It seems Welsh councils are trying to wriggle and squirm out of paying them. Keeping fingers crossed that they behave decently.

A friend in the Lakes has got his £10K paid earlier this week but will not cover losses. A friend in Wales has reported that the local council have got their knickers in a twist over a handful of 2nd home owners who have apparently flipped houses onto rates and the council are now trying to find a w...

I think a booking surge after this period of uncertainty is more likely in the UK. It's hardly surprising that bookings are dead just now. The problem comes if the Government decide to impose travel restrictions. I think they will be very reluctant to do that unless there is a sudden demand on the N...

We used to be on Wyndhams dynamic pricing but found it was damaging. They would discount prices to get maximum letting but they were discounting prices which in the past had shown to go to late bookers. We have moved away from DP and have seen about an 18% increase in income overall and occupancy le...

I really like your website.

May I ask who did it and what the cost was?

It is simple to navigate and very easy to find what I want.

My 1 disappointment is that I can't see any views of the outside of the cottage.

We went through the same dilemma. The property in question is very modern but we still only want for 40" at a 3m viewing distance. People use the term home from home but people are on holiday and a reasonable TV experience is expected but certainly not a home cinema. Smart functionality is prob...

I used to be that untidy English guest. Not because I'm untidy but I felt it was being cleaned anyway and had been used to hotel standards.

Not sure when I realised my error but needless to say, I don't behave like that anymore.

Guest in my property are advised to leave the place as they find it.

Hive is really not ideal for FHLs. Who suggested you fit that? We looked at several systems and was pushed towards Hive but it was too compromised. We ended up going for Heatmiser Neo. It has no learning function but is very customisable and in a year of running it have only good things to say about...
