Re: Big slowdown in bookings
I have had a similar experience. My self catering property for 2 people was, before Covid, booked solidly from the beginning of March to the end of October. I try to get bookings for 7 nights and have managed to do this successfully for 8 years, only offering last minute short breaks of 3 nights whe...

Which iron?
I am thinking of getting a Laptronix Steam Press and would like to know if anyone has bought one and if it is worth it? It looks very much the same as the more expensive Singer esp2 Steam press which I have been recommended by a professional ironer. It would not get heavy usage as I only have 1 set o...

Pricing
Hi everyone, I have been toying with the idea of stopping seasonal pricing for my self catering property and making all weeks the same. Has anyone done this and how did it work out?

A couple of weeks ago our single male guest appeared at the door one morning to tell us that the electricity had gone off. Panic stations! Since he had not had his breakfast I asked him in and gave him toast and tea and he stayed in our kitchen chatting practically all morning. Luckily our local Mr ...

Are you on Independent Cottages? I joined after reading about them on the forum. I was worried as youpay them to set up your advert the first year, but it is a good site that brings in bookings. I have heard about them, I think I may have contacted them in the past but cannot be sure. It seems quit...

Sorry no experience of Unique Cottages but also regrettably gave up with Cottage Guide after having been them for several years, following 12 months with no bookings Same here, I had one enquiry a few months ago which came to nothing. Unique Cottages only operate in Scotland at the moment. I think ...

Google Analytics
Just one wee question, when looking at my traffic on GA ‘organic search’ comes up. I am intrigued to know what this means. Can’t find an understandable explanation on the support page. Can anyone enlighten me? Also where do the referrals come from? They are not listed.
Thanks in advance.😊

Unique Cottages
I did a google search on my desktop for Cottages on Skye, and the top one was Unique Cottages, apparently they only deal with places in Scotland, so I thought I would ask if anyone here has had any dealings with them. I was advertising my website on the Cottage Guide but don’t think I have had any b...

The only way to get the price you want is to have your own website and manage the bookings yourself. Look to advertise on local tourism sites. We advertise our website on IsleofSkye.com and WalkHighlands but now we find that most of our bookings come directly through our own website. We also adverti...

Google Free website
I got a message from Google my business. It says ‘Don’t forget to publish your free website, publish now’. It is telling me that I’ve already created a mobile friendly website and need to publish so it can be seen by my customers. What is going on here? Why should I publish with Google, what advanta...
