Update. I never topped up the internet and they never mentioned it. Guest checked out and left the house in a mess, will need a decent clean but nothing required from the security deposit. Just glad they're gone. Have bought an extra SIM for 60gb, hopefully that will be enough! Thanks for all help a...

Interestingly I've found out that there appears to be at least 2 extra people staying at the property than what was agreed. Supposed to be three kids and there are five teenagers. I'm getting that info second hand though so can't verify. But it would explain why the net might have been used up so qu...

Quick update. I decided to wait until hearing from him before buying the new SIM. Yesterday evening he blew past the cap and the net access shut down. Still haven't heard from him. I'm going to wait until I do. He booked directly and I don't want a return booking from him so am not that bothered if ...

Hangers - we provided 6 each i think and when he asked we got him 12 extra within 30 mins. Towels - each guest is given a bath and hand towel. When he asked he got 6 extra sets. (there are 5 guests) It's really come at a bad time as well. I know there's never a good time but at the moment this is th...

Actually, just realised they booked directly and our website makes no mention of WiFi at all. Our Airbnb ad does but they did not book through them. I think I'll need to send the new SIM and then just make sure we are prepared for this type of thing next time. 25gb is small but it's actually much be...

Update on this. I think we've got our very first difficult guest and it's hard to deal with as we run the place remotely. Luckily we've great neighbours who've been able to help sort each of the requests quickly (within 20 mins or less!) He's already complained about the lack of washing machine tabs...

Thanks. That confirms what I'd already thought. Hopefully the rest of the rental goes well.

Guest expectations

After four years of renting our property we seem to have encountered our first troublesome guest. We've been lucky thus far I guess. Anyway, we advertise as self catering but provide some laundry tabs and dishwasher tabs as a starter pack for people. This guest is complaining that he should be provi...

Internet - expectations

Hi We run a property in quite a rural location and so have a restrictive internet allowance which we've so far managed to work within. We leave a note for the guests saying that the internet is a capped service and so to please not use anything like Netflix or Youtube as this will use up the allowan...

Thanks for all replies. Have decided to bite the bullet and replace it. It's the second last guest of the season so it's a good and bad thing I guess.

Perhaps as a first step : ask if they'd like it replaced, and then offer to purchase one from (e.g) ao.com, with a 2h time-slot for delivery? If the other proves to be repairable, keep it as a spare, should it happen again... Sorry should have said, I'm in Ireland and AO.com don't deliver there. Ho...

Broken TV - what to offer

We manage our rental property remotely and for the last few years nothing has gone wrong thankfully. We've had some repeat business and one repeat guest is currently staying in the house. We've two rooms with TVs (both LCD, one larger than the other) and the guest contacted us on Saturday to say the...
