I have had that email. I knew I wasn't expecting anything so ignored it. I think the 08 number is a premium one. So yes it could cost a small fortune to ring it.

We live in Brittany and use mostly Sky, via a dish, but when we go to Nice we cannot have a dish so we take a little black box with us and connect it to our Livebox (Router) and watch TV via the Internet. It does sometimes stutter but mostly we get very good reception hundreds of Channels, British, ...

You might like to try "Culture shock France" it was written for the American market but has some very useful tips. I was born and raised in London but spent 24 years in California, we bought a holiday home in France and decided we would prefer to retire there. As Mouse says the sun is over...

We have a small kitchen and chose a washer/dryer and a dishwasher forgoing an oven. We got a combi microwave instead plus a gas hob. I use the dishwasher because it is there but really it was a waste of space. The washer/dryer would be better as a washer and separate dryer as the full cycle takes so...

I had the same trouble getting an appointment at the Prefecture in Brittany. My Grandson's visa was due to run out and I couldn't get us an appointment before we went away for the summer. I tried whilst we were away and eventually got one just before his visa ran out. They told us they were fully bo...

French supermarkets, and I suspect many others, sell tubes of mayonnaise, which contain a bit more than the little tubs and less than a full bottle.

I have pillow protectors on our own beds, my husband sweats at night and his pillow was getting smelly and needed far more washing than mine. I have a duvet protector on my Grandson's bed because he manages to detach his duvet from the cover every night and as a teenager sweats a lot. I got tired of...

Just a small point if you have American guests. They tend not to have duvets that take a duvet cover but quilts and a top sheet. The quilts cannot be washed with the same degree of frequency as a duvet cover, so they are suspicious of beds without a top sheet, thinking that the duvet/cover isn't was...

Are there any Realtors nearby who manage properties? If they don't they may know of a company that will do the cleaning and maintenance.

In the past couple of months Charging stations have been installed in some car parks that I know of in Brittany. There is one across the street to me and it has sockets for ordinary two pin plugs or the multipin caravan plugs. There is no tariff available but you have to have a card to make it work ...

We have a dehumidifier in one of our properties and we have it on the draining board in the kitchen, a tube attached sends the water down the drain. It works well and keeps the house dry.

We have a washer/dryer combo in Nice, it is plumbed in so no water drawer to empty as we do with our condensing dryer here. I haven't noticed any extra condensation with the dryer here or in Nice. If you use the full cycle of washing and drying it does take all day. OH put it on and it took six hour...
