HFD price increase
So this site has decided now is the right time to increase their prices on 'quick to book', well I would have thought it was the time to reduce it! Sadly due to the current situation in France nobody is looking, so why would anybody do that in these times? We haven't changed our prices for 5 years, ...

We have always stated clearly we are 'child free' for 14 years and stuck to that. Only once has it ever been disputed quite strenuously and we pointed out that the reason for this was that we are on a D road, with no gate to the gite and vehicles travel at speed past the property, hence our concern ...

SPJ I am not decrying anything you suggest but wonder if you would be better off delaying your guests for the next few months or even cancelling them? It is obviously causing you concerns that can't be answered by anybody even the experts, so why put yourself through this angst? We have not obviousl...

Also agree with Moliere. We do have a sofa bed in the livingroom but have never advertised the fact, it has been called into use on two extending situations in 14 years. But having had to replace it recently due to wear and tear, which took 3 men to remove and then replace it with another, would nev...

I would say proceed with caution BUT in all our enquiries from either NZ or Australia they always quote the dates as shown in your original email. What they actually mean is they will leave on the 21st, it is weird but that is just the way they state it...in the actual days they want to stay. So ver...

Sam we made the decision 2 years ago that the big sites were not working for us, the policies they introduced were not something we were prepared to partake in. So if you stick with them you get what they say, your choice. Our bookings have slipped since moving away from HA/OD, to booking sites wher...

I have been told from a 100% reliable source in the last month that gite de France are now in link with Expedia who are US based, so if you really want guests from that country they would be your best bet. Can tell you the only enquiry we have ever had from that country came with a fullscape page of...

Oh GillianF, you have our sympathy! Please tell me they have returned home to whatever country they came from as we have a dreaded 4 week booking coming up in 3 weeks time, from a couple that sound very similar, please let it not be your now departed guests. The thought has quite put me off my forth...

Hello Lotboy47 We advise our guests to leave anything they would like replaced in a laundry basket we have in the gite (outside) after 7 days of stay and we will bring around replacements, they do there own changing. Works well. Initially we used to replace everything 13 years ago and it proved far ...

We need your advice and suggestions. For the first time in 13 years we have no bookings for the entire month of August, though fully booked after. Our price has not changed for three years and we are no longer with any of the big boys. Hopefully this is the last of our years in this market but we wo...

Oh so empathise with you both KathyG and Mouse, you do reach that point when you have had enough! Finally we have both reached the decision that early next year is the time our property looks at its best and it will go on the market. As to how long it takes to sell and how much we will lose on what ...
