It has been official in Scotland for 2 days now. Surprisingly Booking.com cancelled the booking very quickly after I contacted them- I expected them to be unable to cope with the volume of enquiries but it only took an hour or two.

Booking.com cancellation

Hi - how do i cancel a booking on b.com without penalty to guest or host. Their help topics don't help as it gives you to process but doesn't confirm whether following the process will result in charges. I need to cancel a booking of a traveller from Kuwait (we are in scotland and, as of yesterday, ...

Whilst that was the wording she used whist specifically talking about hotels, self-catering etc,..she started the press conference with "The advice should not be considered optional – it should be seen instead as a set of rules to be followed". It isn't a domestic booking - it is someone f...

Scotland closed

Today the Scottish Government announced that all accommodation providers must close. I wasn't taking any new bookings anyway but have one coming up that was booked through Booking.com. I need to cancel this booking, but there's nothing in Booking.com's Covid-19 guidance that applies to Scotland (or ...

The first email wasn't obviously a scam (hence me sharing this here to let others know). The email address was from a genuine uk based company. The second email that I quoted above confirmed that it was a scam. If I deleted and blocked every slightly unusual email that I receive I would go out of bu...

I have received two emails from this person today, wanting to book for a colleague. I gave generic reply - book via my website and pay via Paypal (I had my suspicions) - and received this reply: Hi again, Thank you for your offer, I want to go ahead with booking. Please see in the attached a copy fr...

Nikita Bartek's first contact: Hello, How are you doing this morning? i would love to know if you still have these dates available and what is the cost for the whole stays. Regard. I replied as normal. Yes it's available and I've attached a quote. The response from Nikita Bartek: Hello. Thanks for t...

Another scam via Owners Direct ......from Ukraine....want to send a cheque....need my full name, postal address and contact number before cheque can be sent. Exactly the same format to a message I received from 'Alex Boris' a few weeks ago.

Cancellation via Owners Direct

I have just processed my first cancellation through owners direct (Pay-per-booking) and thought I'd share my experience as it may prompt some of you to check which Ts and Cs you've selected. The guests had paid £115 deposit. I had set the cancellation policy to: refund 50% of the rental amount if bo...

Alex Boris via VRBO/OD/Homeaway

Perfectly normal enquiry, followed by "please forward me your name, address, email address so that I can send you a cheque". From Ukraine.

That's interesting....but even that would make them 5% more than tripadvisor and airbnb....I would say they'll need to align themselves eventually as they are not providing anything unique to warrant the additional cost.

I have changed from subscription to pay per booking with OD. My subscription ran out at the end of March and as I only had 5 bookings through them last year I decided not to pay up front again. In the 9 days since I have changed to pay per booking, I have had TWO bookings. Not sure how. Out of 56 li...

Thanks newtimber...what I want to do is set my listing up to renew as a commission listing rather than a subscription listing....in the same way you can buy a new subscription before your expiry date....and it bolts on the end rather than starting immediately.

Change to commission listing with Owners Direct

Sorry if this has been asked already (I have searched but can't find it)......when switching to a commission listing with Owners Direct, do we need to wait until our subscription has expired or can this be done before expiry? Also, does the whole listing detail transfer over seamlessly (maybe too mu...

Just wanted to say thanks Essar for your post.....in my haste to dismiss the HA online payment method as yet another charge on top of my annual subscription, I hadn't realised you could enable online booking using your usual payment methods. Very easy to set up and, like you said, it looks professio...
