Just had a lovely e-mail from the Spanish family we have had to cancel. Told us they fully understand, it is not our fault and to hold onto their deposit as they want to come later in the year if all ok by then. Bless them.

Yes we can travel in France today, all restaurants/bars, non-food shops, cinemas, schools and univs closed. However, the news said today that situation in France is deteriorating and President Macron to make a speech to the nation tonight and suspect that he will announce France is going into lockdo...

We are just praying that in August the French will still travel. Luckily we have not had to rely on the Brits for our income as the bookings from the UK dropped off significantly over the the last few years and we advertise as much as possible for French guests. We have just had to cancel a Spanish ...

Just sending our Spanish guests, who were due to arrive for Easter, a cancellation e-mail, sadly. As we know Spain is on lockdown for 2 weeks so they will not be allowed to travel and can see this continuing past 2 weeks. With France having shut restaurants/bars etc and tourist sites closing there w...

We have a dilemma of do we cancel a Spanish booking before they do. Family with an 18 and 15 year old. We are a B&B so they would be in our home and we would have no idea if they were infectious. I have RA so have a surpressed immune system and trying to avoid the virus. Could obviously do with ...

If Macron closes the French borders as he hinted at this evening, gites will loose all bookings. We have a property maintenance business and one gite has all UK guests. We also have a B&B with only 2 bookings so far, one Spanish and one UK and expect them to cancel any day. We could end up with ...

We carried out our own survey on our guests this year who booked via the 2 big boys Abnb & B.com .... the result was really what we expected ... nobody seemed to mind paying more when we explained about the commission being charged. It seemed that a lot were just quite lazy and too much effort t...

B.com another money grabbing con

Those of you that advertise with this company will probably have seen this new amendment to their terms: With regards to the Commission clauses in relation to In Stay Services (breakfast, bicycles, meals etc) we have changed the wording ‘at the time of booking’ to ‘prior to check-in’. This means tha...

We advertise on France Voyage and have had a few bookings which have more than covered the low fee. Worth trying.

Owners did confirm that guest had asked for 2 extra guests, BUT owner was told they would visit for 1 day!!!! After they had gone we found a dry stone wall in the garden had been knocked down, presumably by the kids walking on it ... nothing said, just left a pile of stones .... another little job t...

I would not bother. Our experience is they ask a million questions, take no notice of the answers you give. Constantly on the phone from the gite with ridiculous questions or complaints. When they leave they just walk away, no attempt at cleaning. No attempt to speak the language, just shout loud. B...

We are caretakers for gites. Had a family of 5 booked in one (2 adults, 3 kids) according to the booking list the owner supplies. OH drove past towards end of their 2 week stay and 2 estate cars in drive. Odd that they would come in 2 cars! We called in day before they left to check if all ok and no...

We had a text this week from guests (gite we look after, not ours) stating that a sunbed was rotten (exaggeration) and "they wanted a new one delivered the next day". We happened to be going shopping and found one (as rare as hen's teeth half way through August and after sales have finishe...

Anyone know what B.com mean ...

A few weeks ago I received this from B.com - anyone know what they actually mean. I suspect it means that you can now advertise your property on any website at any price, but may be wrong. France took them to court and stopped them doing this several years ago and as I am reading it the rest of the ...
