Wifi problem

Good morning - We have a Wifi problem in our B&B and my husband, who is good at this sort of thing, cannot work it out - We have several devices, phone, tablet etc, with no trouble connecting - but our guests cannot. They see the router, put in the code, but then don't get access as no internet ...

Thank you for your comments - It has also been suggested that I turn them regularly - just 180 degrees - but if the winter side won't be too hot in summer then there will not be a problem

New mattresses

Good evening - I am wanting to buy a couple of new mattresses for our B&B rooms. The decent mattresses I have seen all seem to have a 'face hiver' and 'face été' I am in the habit of turning a mattress every month, but it seems these are just turned twice a year - does it matter do you think? or...

We have been given a form to fill in that would be relatively simple for gites but very onerous for CdH's as details required of every nuitee. However, due to complaints I think this will be simplified. I would have thought all you would need to declare would be the number of nights and the number o...

We went to our meeting last night. Unfortunately, nobody could hear what the chap giving his powerpoint show was saying as he didn't have a microphone and spoke really quietly. The taxe de sejour is only applied from April till end September in our communes. I did say that we had plenty of reservati...

Thanks to you all for taking the trouble to respond. We are being called to a meeting next week when I suppose everything will be explained as we have not received any paper work yet. That is very interesting to know Sandra - it is a matter of principle - and I shall definitely ask the question at t...

Thanks Moliere - my feeling is that I cannot ask my guests to pay it - but I don't see why I should either - perhaps I can try and argue this

Taxe de sejour

Have just received a letter to say that we will have to start charging taxe de sejour from 1st April, 2016 - Well, we have several bookings already (chambres d'hotes) beyond this date which are confirmed. Do I have to charge these people that have booked? the tariff is already agreed with them

I use ones from 'Conforama' that are breathable, soft and, obviously, waterproof. With a extra sheet or mattress protector on top, you really don't notice they are there. Cost a bit more than 5€ though

Thanks for your responses - not sure how to go with the bread yet but will try to serve a choice of bread (maybe some for toasting) as well. Actually, I far prefer frozen croissants to our local Boulanger's (which are not pur beurre). We use 'Adelie' croissants and pains au chocolats - the 'picard's...

Breakfast bread

Our nearest boulangerie is 5km away and doesn't open before 8am so we have got in the habit of serving frozen bagettes crisped up in the oven (along with pain au chocolate and croissants cooked from frozen). For the first time we have received a negative comment on a review about the bread and the g...

Thanks for your help - well, perhaps I am making too much of this and should make the effort to provide info required - sounds like it is not obligatory though
