It's definitely unfortunate, and clearly a mistake that must be learnt from. It behoves you to put this right, and that might be a costly exercise. This happened to me once - I use a channel manager, but had taken a booking from an offline source and forgot to add it to the booking system. In this i...

Is there a LMH for guesthouses?

We look after a few holiday apartments for other people (and a few of our own too), but have recently taken on a guesthouse.

I wonder if there is a LMH for guesthouses? It's not a B&B.

My European guests are about the same. A few more Americans this year than usual.

Curiously, I've noticed far fewer Scots. Usually at least 15% of my guests are from other parts of Scotland, but not this year. More like 5%

Hasn't made any difference to me - I have gone from about one booking a month to no bookings for several months with AirBNB. I'm not too bothered since Booking.com and friends keep me busy. Maybe I should remove instant book and see if they send me some guests ;-) Incidentally, what's your property ...

I only know one person who has done mediation instead of court, and he regretted it - basically, if you don't accept some sort of compromise, however silly it is, it reflects very badly on you. There's no obligation to mediate, just send it to court.

haha yes, I love the "just manage it yourself" thing that they tried with me, too.

I wonder, are Sykes arranging cleaners and repairs too? ;)

My advance bookings very so much! May / June / July - around 9 months August - usually a few 6 months out, then nothing, and the rest sold a month or so out October/November/December/Jan/Feb - a month to a few weeks out. Because I've got a city apartment, I think my bookings are more in line with lo...

We don't have a dishwasher. I don't leave washing powder for the washing machine. However, there is usually some in the adjacent cupboard, left behind by other guests. Towels - we provide one bath sheet, one hand towel and one flannel per guest. Like mmg, I also have a drawer full of tea towels. Thi...

I've not heard of this requirement, however, I offer both varieties of teabag. In my welcome basket, I put a few wrapped teabags. In one of the cupboards, is a selection of teas and coffees that other guests have left. I have no intention of removing these. But then I'm probably in enough trouble fo...

Regarding the ferry - talk to the companies. I have relatives in Chichester and friends in Southampton - I visit both at least once every two months, so I'm in the area "often". I'd often toyed with a day trip to IOW, but the £100 return with the car had always put me off. Anyway - last we...

I really like the idea, and I wonder what we can do to help?

Once iCal is working, I will get that synced up. At the moment, I don't keep the calendar updated for this reason - it simply isn't worth my time.
