NY Times writes about the down side of holiday rentals

Just to add some more doom and gloom to today's news, the NY Times writes about the down side of booking a holiday home directly from the owner. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/05/travel/05pracrentals.html?_r=2&em&oref=slogin&oref=slogin I light of the recent posts regarding holiday-renta...

I for one insist on the cottage having a mid stay clean. This way my cleaner can keep an eye on how the house is being treated, report on any breakage and most of all decrease the amount of wear and tear the cottage gets by making sure everything is in perfect condition. So far none of my two week b...

Hi Moose,

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your first booking! It's very exciting isn't it?

Whatever you do, don't send them the directions to your home until they have paid the entire rental costs plus security deposit if you request one.

Hope you get loads more bookings!

Hi Alexia, Yes, I have checked my competitors rates and we are positioned correctly for Tuscany. For a small cottage (sleeps 3 adults) the maximum price is about £800.00 per week high season. All of our bookings for 2006 are for couples. We pitched ourselves at £750.00 per week high season which i...

I am overwhelmed with the number of bookings we have had. We only have three single weeks free from the end of March until the beginning of October. I thought bookings began in early January, we were booked by Christmas.

I'm not complaining, just shocked!

I am quite astounded by the early bookings for 2006. We have already booked thirteen weeks (unlucky for some) with most of them being two week bookings. I didn't expect to receive bookings for 2006 until January so I am extremely pleased and surprised.

I found a website last week called www.seniority.co.uk which as the name implies is for folk 50+. They have a directory which you can add your site to. You have to give them a reciprocal link to your website. It costs nothing and might get you some of those lovely ABC couple with lots of expendable ...

This is our first year renting out Sogna Piccola so I have nothing to compare it to regarding past performance. We have bookings until the third week in October and even a booking in late November. For 2006 all of July and part of August have already been booked and we have a few one week bookings i...

Congratulations Helen!!!

It's a lovely feeling when someone thinks your holiday home is a place they want to spend time in.

Holidaylets have been very good for me as well. We have received five bookings for 2006 and all came from holidaylet.net

Long may the bookings continue!!!
