Re: Bad Review

I sympathise. We have had occasional bad reviews. They are distressing but you shouldn’t take them personally. I’m sure you have had plenty of good reviews as well. If I may make some suggestions, first, I think it’s important to reply, not for the sake of the reviewer but for the sake of potential ...

Hello there, We pay a fixed annual subscription to Vrbo. In practice they charge the tenant about 14% of the quoted rent and they charge us about 3 3/4% ('payment processing fees'). So the total is about 18%. Vrbo haven't notified us of any change in the model. If they do change it as you suggest, w...

We very concerned by what you say and by what we have read on Trust Pilot. We have one group of guests from Home Away arriving next Saturday 1 August and a second group the following Saturday 8 August. We feel we have no choice but to let the first group come but in the light of all the reports wil...

Re: HomeAway not making payouts

Guests booked through HA arrived last Tues 21st and I have not received any payment, which should have been disbursed on 22nd. Called customer service & am told it's an 'internal error' awaiting fix by the technical dept. When pushed I was told I have to wait another 7-10 days. When I said to c...

Brexit problem with insurance

Up to now, our house in France has been insured with Towergate in London. When I called Towergate to ask why they hadn't sent a renewal reminder, they said that in the event of a no-deal Brexit, they would no longer be able to insure us, and they were waiting to see what would happen. Since our pres...

We are also insured by Towergate and they wanted to put the premium up by about £30. I called them, pointed out that we hadn’t made a claim in 3 years, and asked if they could improve the quote. They reduced it by £50. It might be worth trying.

Hi Rosa, we have had one of these taps at home for several years now and are very pleased with it. It doesn’t take up too much space under the sink and I don’t think it could be operated by a young child as you have to press down fairly firmly on the tap to get it to produce the hot water. If your g...

Without being glib, call in a real pool engineer, one who actually understands pool water chemistry. I make my living from pools so I hope you can understand that I can't just give out free information although it maybe in contravention of the forum rules to behave as I am, I do have to put food on...

To answer your questions: Yes we were getting a hard white calcaire build up. The sand in the filter was completely clogged up when we first bought the house and it required a lot of hydrochloric acid to loosen it. The pool is tile/plaster finished. As regards the filter, we have replaced the sand ...

It takes time and money to get water into a balanced condition for a pool, so changing it and starting again each season is not really needed. Well water changes, you may have good water one season and poor the next. Are you/were you getting a hard white calcaire build up? Is your pool vinyl lined,...

Hmmm, I see problems ahead for you Old Bill based on the shopping list these pool people have purchased. That's a lot of pH-, + anti calcaire, really? do you have that much of a scale problem? Algicide hmm, still having green pool issues? a lot of chlor choc to. I agree with the flocculent though. ...
