[quote="Jojo"]Thanks so much everyone! It's so disappointing isn't it? There's nothing 'direct' about this now. Yep Owners "Direct" is a complete misnomer now. I have let it lapse after 7 years of being pretty happy. Holiday Lettings I have now re-subscribed (after a couple of ye...

Hi everyone. Just catching up and I saw Wanderer's question. Speaking as an owner in Sardinia, Italy I have to say the Italian domestic market was one I really thought we would do better with. I bought in 2008 and when I came across mediavacanze.com I thought they would be my main marketing. I have ...

Trip Advisor

Was a bit disappointed to find - when I was sending myself an enquiry just to check all was well - that before sending off the enquiry I was prompted to enquire about other properties (my competition) also in the area who had availability on the dates I had entered. This is on a subscription so I am...

Any experience of ownersrentals.com?

After several happy years of using a combination of OD and HL I am now exasperated with both. The new OD I don't think I can be bothered with and will let subscription lapse later this month. I'm also currently subscribed until end of June with HL but was beginning to think the only hope was my own ...

Thanks Nemo. Yes just being facetious ...just a bit disappointed that us honest Hosts trying to run a business have all been tarred with the same brush. Thanks also for the heads up re The Holiday Let. Still going to give them a go but you have managed my expectations :-)

Haven't yet gone live with The Holiday Let just building my entry. Plus am in no rush as we are pretty much booked now until end of Sept and we don't rent during the winter until March anyway. Having said that The Holiday Let appears to be very much like the old OD or old HL but it all depends on th...

Have paid for an annual HL listing

I have paid for an annual listing on Holiday Lettings (commission only wasn't working for me, as for lots of others here)
Anyone have any positive experiences?
I'm thinking to ditch OD (which has until their change to commission only been my mainstay) and proceed with The Holiday Let and HL

Owners Direct...not so Direct anymore

I had nothing better to do so have read through 11 pages of the "New OD" thread

If they go the same way as HL it will be a poor show. And the name is a misnomer now... really what's "Direct" about it?

Yes you are correct ICI has been replaced with IMU and local councils have also added TARES and TARSU:( TARES is the rubbish collection but I have no idea what TARSU is and am not sure that I've even paid it yet!! Everything is now so bl***y complicated that I give up! TARSU is "tassa rifiuti ...

How do they charge you for a cancellation? We are commision listing and get very little business from HL anymore, however we do seem to get 1 a year but they send no money until 48 hours after guest arrives

Yes have filled it in. I wonder if they are going to go commision based like HL? They'll have to change the name if they do ..."Owners Indirect"?

I'd keep the deposit and release the dates. Obviously write or telephone and tell the original booker (who your contract is with, even if only verbal) what you're doing. Sounds like you've already given them the opportunity to provide bank details for a refund so I would say (and any judge - if it c...

I'm sure the HL vetting is entirely automated and what it's looking for is the "@" symbol and strings of numbers which are then flagged up. Don't think HL will worry too much about the occasional "defection"...I had cause to speak to their Customer Services a while ago and the gi...

We went over to a commission only listing. and have worked hard to keep it up to date and respond promptly. The enquiry level is satisfactory but conversion rate is terrible. We have found enquirers don't understand the system either: they ask for a phone number or give you their email (which is edit...
