I understand that it depends on whether your income is over 10k Euros and whether you are IVA registered/ liable to pay it. IF not ignore the VAT.

Report the amount after commission is subtracted. This is pretty much what my accountant told me.

We have a roof that is South facing and would be fine to have sufficient panels fitted on it.

We have what I believe are called Roman Steps so no pool ladder. Ok, so just give it to me straight, if this was your pool, in the Algarve, what would you get to heat it? By the way, we will definitely get a cover but want to know if there is some sort of more attractive solution than the usual huge...

Fantastic info. Thank you. Does anyone know if the saltwater chlorination system i.e. saltier water has any impact on the cover's life or that of the other equipment?

What type of heating and cover(saltwater chlorination pool)?

I'm sure this has been done lots of times but I would like up-to-date info as I guess technology etc. changes things after a few years. My pool in the Algarve has a saltwater chlorination system, it's kidney-shaped and 8x4m. Pools out there are pretty chilly other than in July and August, plus a cou...

It won't come up as an issue normally as most of our guests will fly in for a week or two. This party was unusually from Portugal. I meant more that I would accept them again but yes I don't think I would take others for the reasons you give.

I am going to leave the AL sign on the gatepost based on all this and the fact nobody out there has mentioned it. Plus I think it is a security issue as it marks a place out as likely to be a. empty out of season (not that it isn't fairly obvious anyway) and b. when in use possibly people are less l...

Well...the guests left and I'm told by the house manager (who is very protective and careful!) that everything was left in a very good state and there were no issues at all. On this occasion, I'm probably not going to charge a supplement as I'd rather have careful, clean guests with a dog than perha...

Thanks. That would be great. Hmmm I need to decide asap as I need to get the invoice book printed in time for the first run of submissions to finance. Suspect I will have to just do it that way for now. As my agency is in the UK, I guess I just get the client's details, add the amount and then send ...

Point taken re the AL sign. We have not got that. To clarify, the license has now been applied for. It probably has been granted but the lawyer is on holiday. Hmmm well the lawyer did not obtain the energy certificate on purchase and it is the same lawyer. I have been quoted the fee for this so I th...

Updating this in case it's useful for anyone...Casa Espacao opposite the Forum in Faro really wasn't bad. Good value and a decent range. Ikea type prices. If you want swank, there's a gorgeous interiors shop in Almancil called Alquatro (same building as Casa Vostra which is a fab Italian restaurant)...

Hmmmm I'm worrying I've paid WAY over the odds for all sorts of certificates then. We had the energy certification, electrical and not sure what else. I will check but I will be very annoyed if we have paid for things unnecessarily. We also had pool signage with the depth, fire extinguishers and fir...

I will check the agency agreement. They are UK based and my experiences as a renter via them, and initially as an owner, plus those of a few other owners of theirs I know have been excellent. The threat of having a holiday terminated would I'm very sure put people off even if you wouldn't actually d...

Its bed was in one of the bedrooms but actually that's not really worse than the living room. The curtains aren't floor length in that room so it would just be the bedding potentially.

Gosh I hope they aren't cleaning up the darn dog with my brand new towels!! Welcome to the world of rentals indeed!

Yep dogs versus kids...not clear cut as to which is worse. As a dog owner I don't think it's the end of the world and suspect it is a small dog. How many hours extra would seem reasonable to charge for with the cleaning (it is a 4 bed house with a large living/ dining area - no carpets and the small...
