the NEC is a series of exhibition halls. They're all pretty similar. Dreadful, expensive food....parking expensive etc etc!!

Place in the Sun is a very popular TV show in the UK, so I expect they'll be busy shows tho!

Gianni,
There are much better ways for you to get bookings for your villa that don't involve costly travel.

I would agree with the previous assessment of the NEC itself.

It would have made a good 10th circle of Hell for Dante if it had been around in the 14th centrury.

As for it's surrounding - as you will already know Gianni, it sits between Birmingham and Coventry in the heart of a declining industrial area.

Birmingham is a perfectly pleasant city but does not have a lot to recommend it to tourists unless a 40 year old circular shopping centre rings your bell.

Coventry would have had a lot to offer had it not been for the close attention it received from firebombs some 60 years ago. Now it only has a couple of streets with the odd half-timbered building amongst the concrete towers to show what it could have been like.

Wow - that's about 10% of England written off in half a page

Accommodation in hotels locally is relatively expensive and can be hard to find when there is a popular exhibition on, so book early of you are going. Hotels slightly further out (e.g. round Hinckley) can be good value even factoring the cost of taxis. I can recommend the Sketchley Grange.

The most obvious local attraction is Shakespeare's birthplace Stratford which is definitely worth a visit.

Hope this helps
