Good quality spam

We're heavily under attack with spam at the moment, which is getting through our filters as it looks reasonably genuine.

Almost all of it is in the same format:

Convincing name in From field (even from N. America)

Reasonably convincing Subject field - very short and snappy

Content is mostly trying to ramp US share prices (appearing to be laid inside a genuine message - it just leaps out) or drug/supplement garbage.

I can't 'train' our spam filters easily on this stuff.

Is anyone else getting an unusually large volume at the moment?

Yes, loads of stuff about US shares, also a US Democratic party ( I think ) thingy appears every few days, all about Congressman this, that or the other ! Sigh....

Me too! In my Wanadoo account it's mostly investment "advice". In my Hotmail account it is mostly drugs or enhance this, that or even the other.

I can't work out an algorithm to bar them so I put up with them. Instant delete is my approach.

The US share stuff has even found its way into our Mac - the first spam ever to have arrived in my Macmail inbox. Très irritating.

Yep, I get it too, always shares advice... my spam filter seems to have learned to get rid of it now though....it started about a month ago...
