I've just got round to adding my properties to both the dog friendly group (now at 18,000 members!) and this one.
I appreciate everyone who takes the time to create and then maintain/admin these groups.
I do have one comment with this group though Rosie. In the introduction Sue states:
"We specialise in high quality self catering and B&B properties in the UK and France..."
How do you know that the properties are high quality? Are you checking the details of each property that is added?
I don't mean to be critical but I think you may need to remove the high quality bit. Otherwise it feels like you are taking some responsibility for the quality of cottages/B&Bs on offer.

Yes, we do and have turned some accommodation away that we did not feel was of a sufficiently high quality. I agree is is very subjective and that anyone can put up false details but with the many years of combined experience of our admin team we do hope to be right in more cases than not.anya752000 wrote:"We specialise in high quality self catering and B&B properties in the UK and France..."

In that case I take back my commentRosie wrote:Yes, we do and have turned some accommodation away that we did not feel was of a sufficiently high quality. Just resurrecting this thread as I have taken up the challenge and created a group for Cyprus... www.facebook.com/groups/CyprusHolidayRe ... romOwners/ As it was mentioned that there were no objections to modelling new groups on the existing one, I have adopted many of the rules, guidelines etc.
I don't think there are many Cyprus owners on LMH but any that are, are more than welcome to join. Equally, anyone who is interested in a holiday in Cyprus are welcome to join in. Early days yet but hopefully the group will grow if people support it.

That is great nealh and ask away if you have any questions - I'll do my best to answer them. We are far from the biggest group out there but we are growing every day and getting feedback from owners who have got bookings through the group.nealh wrote:Just resurrecting this thread as I have taken up the challenge and created a group for Cyprus... www.facebook.com/groups/CyprusHolidayRe ... romOwners/ As it was mentioned that there were no objections to modelling new groups on the existing one, I have adopted many of the rules, guidelines etc.

Certainly you can Martha... are you thinking of a holiday in Cyprus? The reason I ask is that I notice your holiday rental is in France.Martha wrote:Could I join?

If you want to join, just click the join button using your personal profile and I will do the necessary.
Thanks Rosie... a long way to go before there are enough people to make it viable but we are getting there... 8 people in 2 days is a start. Have you any tips on building up the numbers?Rosie wrote:That is great nealh and ask away if you have any questions - I'll do my best to answer them. edit to update numbers - now 9!!
Now 10 I see. Simply shout about it and share it wherever you can. I gave a shout out in my small group of 150 odd members, when I saw your post on another owner group. Join local selling facebook groups etc, ask your friends to share it on their timeline etc. It's always a hard slog to start with, but holiday groups are definitely growing on social media, as is the popularity of booking direct with an owner after seeing a property on facebook.nealh wrote: Thanks Rosie... a long way to go before there are enough people to make it viable but we are getting there... 8 people in 2 days is a start. Thanks for the shout out Nemo... and tips for growing the numbers.
Very aware that it will take a while to get the numbers needed. Unfortunately I am not that tuned in to the mechanics of Facebook so it is taking me a while to discover how to do things efficiently.
Perhaps you would tell me a bit more about the ethics of promoting the group. For example is it seen as acceptable just to jump in and promote or should you seek permission first?

A tangential discussion about another Facebook group went here: http://www.laymyhat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27323
