If you are planning to buy a rental home, or you're thinking about what to do with one you have just acquired, this is the place for any questions about starting out in the rentals business.
We are about to do lodge #3 and have to select a name. I have this feeling that the name is a very important marketing item.
We are wondering which way to go.
For our first lodge we called it Windermere Lodge (the nearest lake). As the second lodge was on the beck we called it Kingfisher Lodge.
The new lodge is also on the beck and we are not sure which way to go
"Riverside", "Beckside", "Waterside" have all been used by other people
We thought about "Catbells Lodge" (catbells is a lake district fell) and "Lazy Otter Lodge" (they have just found evidence of otters under nearby bridges on the beck)
We had ours numbered until we got to 5, then switched to names - previous owners, mountain, river, Czech forest, forest, sun, bird and otter! (Anton, Maria, Arber, Regen, Sumava, Wald, Sonne, Vogel, Otter).
Love it Big Sis !!! That will get used, believe me!!!
Thanks for the feedback guys - Otter Lodge is looking good - I just heard that one of our neighbours saw 2 otteres 25 yards away from the new lodge last week!
Big Sis.. wrote:BTW Did you see them reshowing the Michael Fish debacle on Breakfast news this morning how embarrassing..have they ever got it right??
BS - some of us go to work in the morning - I have never seen breakfast tv.
BTW, Windy, I think "Otter Lodge" is an absolutely brill name too.
I'd stay there on the name alone (assuming I was insane enough to want to holiday in this country - but then, I spent most of my childhood exploring the Lake District, and maybe it was better then - my memories are good!).
Definitely Otter cottage, I'd stay there too based on the name. Ring of Bright Water with Mij the otter was the second film (after Bambi, bien sûr) that made me cry. I'm so pleased that otters have made a come back in the UK.
