For those of you who run a legal B&B in these countries it must be a bit of a concern. These folks who register may not pay tax on their income, they may not have any safety or food regulations to abide too.The same goes for planning permissions.
Why should they be allowed get away with this?

The tax law they quote seems to cover more permanent lodgers not those who rent out on a nightly basis, or have I got that wrong?

I have a friend who used to do a bit of B&B following the introduction of this tax legislation and her accountant told her that provided her total gross income from it was below the relevant threshold she could class it in this way.
The downside is that you can't deduct expenses that you would if you were doing it the conventional way - laundry, food etc.
