Hi Tom

British... because you'll be paying UK tax on income from a foreign property.

I'm in the UK and my (British) accountant is from Cyprus! Just thought I'd share :) In answer to your Q, wouldn't you need a accountant there? I have a French one to sort all the French tax...

Hi Martha & Tom

It's actually illegal to rent out property without a licence from the Cyprus Tourist Office! Like everything else to do with property in Cyprus, it's a minefield.

As far as I know, you always have to submit a tax return in the country where the property is, regardless of where you live - certainly within the EU. So your answer is that you will need an accountant in Cyprus but may be able to avoid paying for one in the UK if you use the (very helpful) Inland Revenue helpline.
