That is excellent.

Here is the sort of view number 5 reminded me of.

Thank you. :)

That's the one. Stramongate Bridge.

Our first property is very near there (but more on that later).

Getting a logo.

KC,
I like the new one including the tree.
I found no.7 the most eyecatching previously.
Perhaps the new one with the colours of no.7???
Just a suggestion. :)

OH has beaten me to it.

I like it; I'm not certain it's the finished article, agree the tree may be a bit fussy, and perhaps worth a play with more colour (although that might prove to me that it's better as is!) and other typefaces. But the image - yes.
If you know Kendal, you'll make the association. If you don't, the bridge makes you want to cross it to somewhere enticing in the distance.

I still prefer something about #7 but I see where you are coming from a bit better now and the bridge is a good metaphor for Kendal town.

Visually it loses something for me by not having the blue and I agree that the tree is a bit fussy.

A less fussy tree (or is this still too fussy, do you think?) and a change in colour scheme... what do you think now?

Thanks everyone.

And a happy New Year to you and yours KC. :)
A hint of blue under the bridge and it would be perfect for me.

You may want to read this article http://graphicdesignblender.com/22-logo ... -guilty-of

Mind you, I'd ignore suggestion #12

Thank you for that link. I don't *think* I'm not adhering to any of the rules (bar the exclusion you mention), but please correct me if I'm wrong...

As for adding blue, do you not think that would be a little distracting and detract from the logo overall? I guess I should try it...

Without reading anyone else's comments to sway me, 5, 7 or 11, but make sure the .com is on there whichever you use!
Yes I know the shutters are not blue!

I'm with Lady GB - a touch of blue and I'd be very happy with that.

I tried the touch of blue and, in all honesty, I didn't really like it (nor did other people I showed). In the end, I've actually reverted back to a slightly earlier version as the colours of the latter version looked a little overbearing when printed out compared with seeing on screen (IMHO).

I am starting to wonder if #12 in e-richard's link did have some validity afterall. I've discussed the logo with so many different people, both online and offline, and it's been quite interesting how much variation in opinion there's been.

I guess it just goes to prove there's no 'right' answer. :?

Here's what we plumped for in the end.

Of course, we're not tied to it for good necessarily but I think it's a reasonable starting point.

Thank you to everyone for your feedback.

Just two colours for printing too....would a grey/blue stream work rather than bright blue? Bridge same colour...just a couple of wavy lines?

We tried a few things along those lines but couldn't really get it to work. As soon as I introduced the blue, it seemed to pull all the attention on to that and take away from the logo as a whole (I felt, at least). Maybe some people would have liked it, I'm not sure, but I suppose you've got to be happy/comfortable with your own logo yourself, too. :)
