Reasons to be Cheerful Part I

Post by Sue Dyer »

It's Christmas Eve at last after an awful year for world tragedies etc. Anyway, here are my very small reasons to be cheerful today:

My family are safe and relatively healthy
Husband is finished work and is home for Christmas
I am lucky enough to have some good and loyal friends
There is a huge pile of presents under the tree for me :)
We're going off on a 5 day trip for New Year to France
I've just had a letter from work with a 3% payrise
I have won 2 x £50 Premium Bonds in the last 3 month
Dave gave me a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin last night

Cheers everyone!!

Sue,

The up-side is:-
  • We are warm, comfy and well
We have our immediate family around us for Christmas
Our son has just announced his engagement
His fiancée has just got her PhD
Lots of lovely friends are dropping in to share Christmas with us
We have given a lot of presents to each other
We don’t have to go anywhere for a while
The down-side is:-
  • Our new kittens have just demolished the tree, for the fourth time!
Dave didn’t give me a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin, and it’s run out
I didn’t win anything on the Premium Bonds, again!
There’s nobody to give me a rise, not a salary rise anyway
    My best friend just died
All the very best to everyone on the Forum.

Sue,

Thanks for that but would you make it two tonight, not one? Actually no! I think Bombay Gins should be treated like oysters, they come in odd numbers starting with three.

mmmmm, oysters (I can't find a emoticon which rolls it's eyes in pure joy!) I'm hoping to put a few away on our French trip. I love those seafood platters soooooo much. Moules too, yum yum yum!!

Alan, just tell me how many Bombay gins tonight and I will too happily imbibe on your and my behalf!

LaLuz, I hope you have bought the son a load of Lynx and stuff like that as a hint!!

soodyer - We are constantly overpowered by the somewhat dubious fragrance of Lynx. Infact I think he is probably responsible for most of the damage to the ozone layer, but let me just say that the shower gel always lasts alot longer than the body spray

Sue - just introduced Syb to the delights of gin - after 30 years of drinking! I think I may have created a monster!

Alan - so sorry to hear your sad news mate. Hope you can remember with affection & love. I know exactly what it feels like, as I'm sure many others on here do too. Take care and enjoy the gin (when you finally get some!).

LaLuz - It doesn't end at 15, sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news! 19 and counting! Still, at least he's in a completely different building to us at the moment until our grenier's completed! THEN I'll invest in Lynx by the camion load!

If it's any consolation 15-year-old girls are not so different until a boy catches their eye - then regular bathing begins. You just have to hope that there is a potential partner out there that they want to impress.

Stu & Syb,
Hope you can remember with affection & love.
He was one of those people whose lives you celebrate rather than whose deaths you mourn - if you know what I mean.

It comes as no surprise, the XO Cognac is doing a good job replacing the Bombay Gin. Must be - I’m still speaking to the sister-in-law from hell, just.

Joan and I hope that everyone has enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year brings everything you could wish for.

Alan, I know exactly what you mean. It's the best possible gift you can give to their memory!

XO, eh? A superb substitute!

Ian & Mary, Askern Road it is! I've thought the world a tiny place for some time now. I guess I'm going to have to complete the spaceship in my shed faster, this world holds nothing for me now....it's infinity & beyond for me now!
