spanish embassey asking for buisness registration

Hi, i have guests who wish to stay at my apartment in playa flamenca orhuela, costa blanca, tha family are from edinburgh scotland the lady is a uk national & so are her kids, The husband isn't he's had to apply for a visa. The thing is that, this is his second visa application interview & twice they have asked him for a buisness registration number. I have no idea what this is can anyone shed some light on this.
