Ryanair flights to Murcia

Post by burdy »

Has anybody any idea whether Ryanair will resume their flights to Murcia in 2012.
I know they fell out with the Spanish airports last year.

Just trying to plan flights for Easter and Ryanair say there are no flights available.
Not sure whether they will, but just haven't released them yet.

Thanks

Not sure of the date but Murcia San Javier airport is closing as a commercial airport and returning to being solely a military airport. The new Covera airport will shortly be operational.

It is at Alicante El Altet that Ryaniar/AENA have fallen out over airbridges. If O'Dreary pulls out as he threatens then it is bad news for the Costa Blanca and bookings in my apartment

According to this, the new airport isn't expected to be in operation until Nov 2012. Many airlines have their summer schedule listing Murcia. http://www.simplynetworking.es/news-999 ... _open.html

Meanwhile, the latest news for Ryanair flights into Alicante isn't good http://www.simplynetworking.es/news-100 ... s_row.html

Corvera is currently in the final stages of testing and can not legally become operational until and unless it has been awarded the approriate licences by the Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)

Assuming all goes to plan, flights should commence April / May and be the airport be fully operational over the course of the summer months.

San Javier will begin to transfer operations at that time

Ive seen quite a lot of adverts recently in National Newspapers from Ryanair about their flights into Murcia...
its the first time theyve highlighted these on their own, and I figured it was because of their falling out with Alicante.
Maybe to get more people to be aware of the Murcia option or maybe to have a dig at Alicante, either way I think flights into Murcia will be going ahead.

I have just checked the Ryanair website and they have flights from Dublin to Alicante and Murcia scheduled for Summer 2012. They were later than usual getting the schedules up this year. I'd better plan our family holiday now!

Most of our guests fly into Murcia using Easyjet. Unfortunately Easyjet don't fly from Dublin to Murcia, so we don't have that option. We'll miss Murcia (San Javier) airport- less than 15 minutes from our apartment :(

Here is a link to a site showing a video of the progress made at Corvera.
It appears to have been taken late last year.

It doesn't look too far off opening to me !!!

An update on Corvera- according to this, there won't be flights into the airport until Summer 2013 http://www.typicallyspanish.com/news/pu ... 4238.shtml

If it helps at all, Jet 2 fly into both Alicante and Murcia from Belfast as well as from various other North and North West airports.

We have flown Jet 2 numerous times and prefer them any day, to Ryanair. I realise this doesn't help anyone wishing to fly from Dublin, but it may be an option to suggest to potential guests

Judging by today's news Ryanair (amongst others) will continue to fly to San Javier for the rest of this Summer ( and maybe beyond unless Corvera get their finger out ! )
