My daughter has been offered the use of an aunt's ski chalet in Leysin. Aunt lives in Switzerland so she's used to the prices there.. I've been told the cost of living in Switzerland is high compared to the UK and am guessing it will be higher in the ski season.
As a rough guide, as they would be self catering and likely to be eating out a bit... anyone know what's the costs roughly for
- a half of beer
- a glass of wine
- a meal out (fondue/ pizza etc
- ski and boot hire
- lift /ski passes for a week
- any other essentials for a ski holiday
They'll have to take the train from Geneva to Leysin (or Aigle) and then get a taxi - again, what can she expect to pay?
and generally, compared to the UK, is it expensive and if so, how much more expensive..
Sorry, I know this is a bit 'how long is a piece of string'
Just trying to work out if it's worth her taking up the offer because she wants a cheap holiday or if it wont be cheap after all, despite the chalet being a freebie.
Could she be better to go to Bulgaria to ski, for example or a different resort elsewhere in an all-in hotel, meals included break..even with the cost of the accom being included in that...
I know ski-ing isn't a 'cheap' holiday....any info gladly received.
I would ask auntie, but I don't think they ski there anymore and are out of touch with local prices
Leysin - rough idea of food/drink costs..
