Longshot?

Post by Sue Dyer »

I've just spent the weekend in Ireland and once again have loved the smell of the peat fires. I've looked and looked on the net but have found it really difficult to find a supplier in the U.K for peat.

Anyone in the U.K. have a supplier anywhere near them? The garages in Ireland were selling the briquettes on the forecourts but I didn't fancy hiking them back on the plane. Dave works around the country and we're always up for a drive so any suggestions around the country welcome!

I have bought 1 piece of ebay to burn on St Patrick's on Friday :)

Hi Sue,
I think you'll find it pretty difficult to get hold of it in the UK in a form worth burning, as I believe it's 'protected'. Where I used to live in Yorkshire was very close to a very large peat marsh, which had been burning steadily underground for a number of years! Incredible, but true! Good luck anyway! I'll be rasing a can of Guinness or 3 on the 17th!
