Don't worry about the high chlorine level, the sunshine will reduce it over the next couple of days. Continue with the pH treatments until you reach the required level, it can take a surprising amount. Add at the rate of 0.7 kg of the sodium carbonate per 15,000 gallons per day until the pH is corrected.
One further suggestion. To ensure that your pool water is properly balanced you should also have it tested for Total Alkalinity and Calcuim Hardness, your local pool specialist will do this for you.

It's a lot better thanks, but I still haven't got it quite right.
The chlorine seems to be OK but the PH is still reading low despite several doses.I thought yesterday, that it looked very slightly cloudy, but I'm not sure. More PH plus went in yesterday and I'm under strict instructions from my husband to leave it alone, at least till tomorrow and see what it's like by then! My sons went in yesterday and came out alive, which is good I suppose.
