Is this the most expensive UK 2-bed country cottage?
Lovely place Paul...but I would have had to straighten those pictures on the bedroom walls
As for the cottage - I think it's delightful. Very much my style of decor (french country mixed with scandinavian influences). I have similar furnishings at our place...though I can't go as far as they have, it being a villa in a hot climate.
The bling isn't for me, though I can understand why they've done it.
What has motivated me though are the photos...and overall branding. It's given me something to think about.
Personally I wouldn't want to spend so much for a break somewhere...I also wouldn't want to 'manage' the clientele they would attract (high maintenence comes to mind) but if they can deliver why not charge. It certainly stands out against other properties because of its thought to detail and character.
I'd love it.

Probably freshly plucked and graded swans' feathers in a gilded holder rather than toilet paper......
I think I'd find them very hard to stomach as well. (Maybe you meant "manage"? )Mouse wrote:I also wouldn't want to 'mange' the clientele they would attract

Quality, but I am not certain about value.
Setting rates is a dark art but going in too high, unless you really do not want guests, is a recipe for a long slow inching down of rates until bookings start up.
Better to go in a bit low and ratchet up to meet the market. Going in too high is a very common and costly mistake.

No web-site for now.

You know charles, I used to think like that. Then a friend bought an awful 70's style house here (with awful stucco plaster on the outside walls). Her builder husband gutted it and they rebuilt. It is 3 beds but one is only accessible from the outside. It was cheaply done (for example they didn't rip up the awful tiles, they just covered them in a sort of laminate...and only put a/c in the bedrooms...and the bathrooms have shower cubicles where the showerhead is way too low so you have to be under 5'5" to fit etc etc)charles cawley wrote:Quality, but I am not certain about value.

I thought she'd price it mid-range of the 3 beds...but no, she went for higher than the 4 beds. So it is much more expensive per week than ours. And on top she charges for a/c useage through the day.
I didn't believe she'd make it pay...but guess what? 4 years later and she's full every summer, and repeat business.
Go figure!
