Favorite Wines?

Post by iracathey »

Hi,
We're going to be visiting our little village house in Cazouls-les-Beziers in late May and I've been commissioned by a local magazine here in Pennsylvania to write about local wines. We have our favorites, but we'd appreciate any tips on YOUR favorite domaines/caves.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ira & Cathey,

I'm afraid living here in the Loire Valley, we find a new favorite every day!

We're fairly partial though to Gratien & Meyer's 'Cardinal' sparkling red. Excellent stuff! They have a massive cave up the road in Saumur.

Hi

A little out of your way (but closer than the Loire !) :

Domaine Guinand - St Christol
Chateau Roumanieres - Garrigues

And inexpensive favourites :

Domaine de Landau - Cave Co-operative Boisseron-Saussines
Viognier - Cave Co-operative Sommieres

Try posting the question on the bbc food talk board. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbfood/ There is someone on there who lives in the south of France and is a bit of an expert on wines. I'm sure he will be able to give you some advice.
