Passing right through my village Helen, and the property is still empty!!! It's Monetier-les-Bains on the stage from Gap-alpe d'Huez on 18th July.

The dreaded dilemma. We once went on holiday on our son's birthday (and left him behind), but only after we'd celebrated and he's gone to bed. On July 19th the Tour also comes back towards MOnetier, before going over the Col du Galibier.

I know it's mad all for a "whoosh" in a nano-second. You have to be a cyclist to appreciate the event and the endeavour of the partisipants to complete the stages never mind win overall.

Our little village went mad when the womens tour came through and had the insistance from our neighbours for apero's at every turn.

It certainly is in "France Profond" to be a coming together of everyone regardless of nationality colour etc..........

...but they are fit!

We waited in the pouring rain at Bouaye a few years ago to watch the time trial from Pornic to Nantes. I'm a keen cyclist so needed no encouragement, but my daughter was a little apprehensive about 'wasting' her day - that was until the cyclists started coming through. Her first word was 'Blimey', and she has been keen to watch ever since. Something to do with their lean, well-defined physiques, I believe!!

Cycling-mania has hit the French Alps. On Sunday, Serre Chevalier was having it's annual Cyclo-Luc Alphand event-three different courses, all part of a Tour de France at some time or another. Then the amateur 'etape' stage of the Tour goes through next week, before finally the main event on the 18th.
