1st Booking

Post by rigmover »

Received our first booking today, two weeks, later this month, so pleased.

I would celebrate but while at work in Norway I managed to snap both of my biceps tendons, sitting in hotel room now waiting for operation on Tuesday, insurance company is nicely sending out my wife to look after me.

1 - Congratulations!
2 - Commiserations....

I have connections to Norway too - I can't imagine how you managed to snap your bicep tendons but it sounds painful.

Wishing you a swift recovery.
Today's going to be a great day!

Well done! Two-weekers are the best - not so long (unless repeat guests, which doesn't apply just yet) that you worry what they're up to, but long enough to justify all the cleaning and other preparation work that goes into each and every booking.

Commiserations on the tendons - how on earth did you do that? Were you trying to move the rig on your own?

Not quite PW, bit of a long story, but the short version is, I fell out of bed, I was on the top bunk. I also broke a toe and damaged my calf.

My first reaction after 'Congratulations!' was also 'Ouch!'. I was just off to see a physiotherapist myself when I read your post, having damaged (not completely torn) my Achille's tendon so I asked her about biceps tendons as I am always interested in medical stuff! She said you will be in for LOTS of physio, over a 6 to 8 week period.

What insurance company are you with? They sound very generous sending out your wife to you!!

That sounds horrible rigmover - but the clue to your job is in your forum name! Glad the company are sending your wife out for some TLC though. I'm currently dishing out TLC for my son who is now wearing a splint and on crutches following a football injury. At least he's not awaiting surgery thankfully, but will take a while to recover. Good to hear about your first booking though. :)

Yeah, did you fall out of bed because you had been celebrating your first booking!? Congrats and commiserations.

A holiday let on an oil rig? Certainly different, definitely a USP, possibly a challenge to market it without making it sound boring.......
(I'll get me coat....)

Commiserations on the injuries.

Ouch! You must be feeling very sorry for yourself - and probably quite cross too for indulging in such a dangerous sport as sleeping in the top bunk!
Glad you've got good insurance cover, and also that your wife is/will be there to soothe your fevered brow and spoon feed you home-made chicken soup (see, I'm married too and know what bad patients men, especially normally active ones, are  )

Hope all mends quickly and you will be back to "fighting fit" as they say, ready to cope with all that your future guests will throw at you. :D

Just received our second booking, this time for a week and they are bringing a pet, this should be a good test for us.

update on me, operation on Tuesday morning, overnight stay because its both arms, the specialist said I will be a case study as he has never had anyone damage both arms at the same time.
