Our Cat ... - a "pome" wot I wrote

Cats Have Slaves

We have a friendly feline who used to be a loner. He arrived chez nous one day, looking for an owner.
We have a ginger pussy, who with his stripey face and very loud demands, makes sure we know our place.
We have a furry purry whose vocal chords work well. He miaows and miaows (and miaows some more) till we are in sheer hell.
We have a spotty Ginge, a demanding furry thing. He miaows just what it is he wants until it we do bring.

We have a vocal feline in need of lots of cuddles. His miaows sound very similar, we do get in some muddles!
We have a hungry pusscat, we offer him some food. His nose turned up, he stalks away - that's obviously not good.
We have a family member. We make him his own pate with liver, heart and lungs - and certainly no satay.
We have a fussy pussy with a very discerning taste. We add some pate to his food and then there's just no waste.

We have a furry purry who loves to sit on our laps. He's a seven kilo kitty, so our bodies do collapse!
We have a ginger feline who is really very clever. He knows just what he may, and what is “never never”.
We have a loving puss who's wrapped us round his claw; he winds around our legs and waits beside closed door.
We have a funny feline who peers down just-flushed loo; he wants to know what happens to what it is we do.

We have a clever hunter who thinks we're strange bi-peds; awake by day, while hunting time is spent inside our beds.
We have an odd ex-feral who doesn't like our friends - it doesn't matter who it is, he just won't make amends.
We have an anxious cat who doesn't think we ought'er splish and splash inside the pool or under shower water.
We have a cross-patch cat who really hates the vet but last September with snake bite, it was the worst time yet.

We have a furry purry who spends more time at home. He's older and he's wiser, no longer needs to roam.
We have a friendly feline who thinks that he's top cat. And do you know, I rather think he's not so wrong at that!

That's lovely. :) The question is are they all different cats and if so how many do you have?

Yeah
When Ginge arrived, all skin and bone, OH said he was definitely not going to allow him inside and would not feed him anything other than scraps ...
He's now got 3 beds inside, 2 outside (the cat, not OH  ) and OH makes special pate for him too! You should have seen the state of the 2 of us last September when Ginge was very poorly with snake bite
If you can ever find a copy of Paul Gallico's book "The Silent Miaow", it's well worth reading. Such an insight into how cats manipulate us to THEIR best advantage

It's the same multi-personality cat, Nemo!
He arrived in 2009, a starving feral with testicals the size of ping pong balls, long legs and huge paws, and ears like Stripe, the bad Gremlin!  It took OH hours and hours of patience and a block of cheddar cheese to get to where he could just about touch one finger to the nervous cat, whose fur was rough and thin.
Such a change over the years - it's glossy, silky smooth and Ginge DEMANDS strokes, brushing, attention - from us, and us only. We just can't socialise him with our friends - unless it's a BBQ night then he comes for tidbits! Typical male, stomach rules the roost

We reckon he was about 1 year old when he first put in an appearance - and apparently any older and we wouldn't have been able to tame him at all.

He is extremely intelligent (and I'm not just saying that as his proud "mum") - he learnt our house rules very quickly and sticks to them. No begging from the table (except outside at BBQs), no scragging furniture or curtains, no leaping on surfaces (my personal horror, cats on kitchen worktops), no sleeping on our bed or on any furniture not already earmarked as "Ginge's bed". No biting or scratching us. And if we need to check him over (for ticks or injuries), he'll let us do just about anything - so long as he's on OH's lap.

He's a softy with us - and very vice versa - but it's a whole different story when he has to see the vet

That's lovely to hear. We adopted a stray when I was a child. He was very young and he wee'd everywhere, so we called him Tiddles. He did settle in ok, but was a very nervous cat and never quite overcame his fear of most humans. He would happily settle on your lap when he wanted attention, but always remained a little bit elusive. He had clearly had a hard early start and certainly didn't like the vet either!

Ohhhh I have only just seen this and I am an ardent cat (all animals!) lover with five rescues from the road outside!

It never ceases to amaze me the different personalities that shine through in spite of 'being brought up' in the same family. But then look at human siblings.......!

I have one very clingy tortoiseshell who howls at the front door when I go out, another tabby who, despite being found in the dumpster with her eyes still closed, can't bear to be touched by human hand but snuggles up to me on the bed until I try to
stroke her when she takes off. One really beautiful long haired dark tabby with a penchant for heights and who has fallen ten to fifteen metres into
The patio and garden of my rental more than once!! To
The guests dismay!!
One female tabby is more wild than a tiger and almost impossible to handle and the last is a delightful one eyed male tabby who thinks he's a dog and adores my son regarding him as pack leader!

Pambon, your male tabby who thinks he's a dog reminds me of the last cat, a silver tabby, we had in UK. We had a large field adjoining our house, with a shed at the top of the field. Kiki would often follow us up the field, via the enclosed veg garden, and as far as the shed. However, she'd rarely follow us back down because by then she would have caught scent or sound of something that needed to be hunted, mouse, shrew or rabbit! Before we moved to that house, she'd never hunted anything bigger than a moth or crane fly but she soon taught herself, aged 5!

Ginge always comes and joins us at the BBQ - even if we have guests despite his intense dislike of other people. He has a favourite place to sit, where he can keep an eye on what we are doing and what we are cooking. His canine teeth are huge (much too big for his mouth) but he still manages to "take nicely" without biting our fingers. He prefers pork, chicken or beef - but his all time favourite is liver!

We've got a cat who thinks she is a dog. Rescued as a tiny abandoned feral kitten and brought into a house full of dogs, she knows no other life:-
