ADAR was also the only company I could find that provides this cover in France AND takes instant payment with a credit card from anywhere in the world.
The renter enters the dates and rental rate and they are quoted roughly 3% for the cover.
I should add that if you use this link to get to ADAR you do not pay more but I get an affiliate commission: ADAR

We understand that this is perfectly usual in France to have a clause. Have a look at Abritel (the fountain of all knowledge)

https://www.abritel.fr/info/guide/conse ... s-location
If you renting with Gites de France then they will quite likely have a clause. See one example below

(voir l'article 13 sur page 2)
We feel fairly sure that if one of your renters set fire to your home with candles and they were seen to be negligent then, even if you have a policy, your insurance company would look to the renters for some "contribution".
Below is list of some travel insurance policies for Brits that (when we last looked) included a clause for liability insurance.
The AA
M&S
Sainsburys
Gosure
Insure and go
There may be others. Buy them through LMH though if you can!! Most people in France are already covered by their own household insurance so it is no problem. Even though we dont ask we do occasionally get a copy of an attestation sent through the post from a French family looking to stay with us. It just gets filed.
