Owner Refusing to Pay
Owner Refusing to Pay
We instructed work on a rental on behalf of the owner who has now removed their holiday rental for further bookings. Out of 1k plus owed most is to trades we instructed on behalf of owner and use ourselves. Trades have invoiced us. Who is liable? Ask trades to now invoice owner direct?
It is better to remain quiet and have one think you are stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt....
The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time.

That sounds right. What a shame; you contracted with the tradesmen and they will look to you for payment. The lesson to learn here is always to take a full retainer in advance from your principal (the owner) if you are acting as an agent in making contracts for the owner's benefit.jafa wrote:Im afraid you've answered your own question. You instructed the work, so you will have to pay. Then you will have to take the individual who instructed you to court if they don't settle with you.
