The Times today reports that the governement is considering legislation to make owners of holiday lets (or those who let for more than 90 nights) to apply for permission to be an holiday let. We have had two lets since about 2010, are registereted for business rates and pay extra to hav our rubbish removed by the council. So, they know about us: will we have to apply to be a let? Does anyone know?
My other dilemma is that to qualify as a FHL in England you have to achieve 105 nights pa, so the ninety day rule seems a bit perverse.
Thanks for any updatyes,
Jonathan

Re: Registration of Holiday Lets
One proposal is that anyone who lets rooms for money will have to register, regardless of how many nights per year. The most likely outcome is that there will be an annual fee of around £100 and every owner/host will have to register & upload their fire risk assessment etc. to show they are complying with basic safety standards. If you don’t register you won’t be able to advertise on ABB etc.

Re: Registration of Holiday Lets
Sorry - just realised you’re talking about the proposed changes to planning laws. That is more complex - again worth reading the info on the PASC website:

Hopefully it won’t be retrospective & won’t affect existing holiday lets. The consultation has just finished so it will be a while before we know more
