Polaris World

Post by fibi »

After many years of ditherinmg eventually made up our minds to buy in Spain and Costa Calida seems the best bet for us. Of course what keeps coming up al the time is Polaris world. From the sales burb/websites it is very difficult to fault the concept, the prices are reasonable, the facilities excellent and the build spec good. Why am I hestitating then?

Well because there will be thousands of the villas and apartments I think renting them could be difficult and same goes for re-sale/capital gain.

Anyone got any experince of renting the ones that are now built? Same goes for after sales service and knowledge of anyone reselling.

thanks
I find television very educational. Every time someone switches it on I go into another room and read a good book.

Fibi, I really don't know and don't know the area but they are also plugging it at Malaga airport. My gut feeling is you answered your own question?

I'm on the costa del sol and there is still so much building going on, further and further back into the mountains. Most of the properties are unsold but still they go on building! A lot of the complexes are built reather like Polaris World but on a smaller scale. I think if you buy into anything too vast there is always a risk of not being able to rent because of the price war with rental properties.

This is only my opinion and others may disagree with me.

Hi Fibi,

Searching on the following forum will bring lots of results and maybe answers to your questions.

http://www.spanishpropertyinsight.com/forums/index.php

I would not consider purchasing in Spain without consulting the above forum, it's such a tremendous source of information...although for the moment until I win the lottery I will have to make do with researching only!

Eileen,

great Forum - many thanks as it helped me to make up my mind firmly on the NO side!

For any others out there thinking about PW heres why its a no from me
- look at villarenters and holidaylets etc websites they are full of polaris world properties with low rental levels(£200 a week in peak season for some) and high levels of availability
- there are 1000s of more properties planned if holidaymakers cannot fill the existing ones what hope is there for new ones?
- no guarantee on community fees, I had quotes from $80 a month to £250 a month
- high density developments
- finally decided life on the truman show was not for me

However there do seem to be lots of happy PW owners out there too.

Now looking for a seaview apartment in Marrazon...
I find television very educational. Every time someone switches it on I go into another room and read a good book.

Hi Fibi,
Just read the thread and I think your last posting sums it up
perfectly. I looked at PW myself and came out with a resounding no!
Apart from "the look" and facilities it didn't tick any of the
financial boxes for me.

So it's back to the hunt (just a simple 50 bed chateau for
under £10k would do :D )

Tally Ho

Sounds like a plan :)

I'll buy the chateau for £10K and sell you the gatehouse for
about £40K or £50K and retire on the proceeds

Remember those words from the other thread, Ian - "be afraid, be very afraid" - yon kitty has a mean and hungry look.

Agree 100%!

I think most of the PW properties are situated on a golf courses. If people are buying for using the property for their own pleasure (not holiday renting) then it's a different ball game altogether (sorry for the pun).
