A thank you gift from my guests

From the moment they step through the door your bookings become guests, and their experiences determine whether they ever come back.

A thank you gift from my guests

Post by cottageguru »

I wrote a post a week or so ago about guests who turned up at our cottage after warning of bad weather and doubts they would be able to access the place because of the snowfall. They did get stuck and my husband had to transfer all their stuff, and their dogs, and them, down to the cottage in his 4WD pick-up. We had more snowfall in the week they were down there and they couldn't get out at all, but apparently had a wonderful time. They got their van to the cottage in the week and were able to leave on time thanks to our local snow plough service.

Yesterday we received a thank you card and a $100 gift certificate from them with an apology that they were not as prepared as they should have been for the conditions. They also rebooked for the spring!

Sometimes, even after years of renting, I am lost for words.

How lovely Heather. Isn't it just a lovely warm feeling when someone does something nice for you for a change. :)

People don't always show their gratitude at the time for a variety of reasons (stressed, embarrassed etc.), but isn't it nice to know they didn't just take your kindness for granted. And a return booking is great news!

Yes, one bit of feedback like that makes up for a load of others who maybe 'meant to' but never got around to it! Terrific, Heather! And for the very rare grumbler!

A slightly different twist for us, but a "thank you " none the less ...... We recently had a cancellation in the Farmhouse (booked six months ago) for a fortnight this August (due to work commitments); managed to re-book it within 24 hours and returned the deposits to the original folks. They have now invited us to lunch at The Four Seasons Hotel, Park Lane to say thanks for our time! It was a substantial amount and they were return guests, but still a nice feeling.
