Yip Peter - there is one place near the port (and a minutes walk into the centre) a smallish, modern 2* hotel called 'Hotel Costa Blanca'.
If you wanted a 4* I can also recommend the Hotel Los Angeles. It's on the beach, has good parking and is mainly Spanish and friendly staff.
