Overnight hotels near Calais

Post by Margaret »

I know we had some discussion of this/recommendations, but I can't find the thread and anyway new people have joined who may have other ideas.

We need to find overnight stops (anywhere between Calais and Saarbrucken, but in this case close to Calais). Our preference is for a good quality hotel but not ruinously expensive and a very good restaurant.

We also need some cheaper ones so that we have a range to recommend to guests.

Any ideas?

Margaret, we have stayed here http://www.hostelleriesaintlouis.com/
but it might be too close to Calais for you. ONly about half an hour away. The restaurant is gorgeous. I have lots of other recommendations on my blog, but they may be in the wrong area for your guests http://serrechevalierapartment.co.uk/getting-there/

Martha, it's lovely, and the restaurant is superb, it's just a bit too far north for us to use regularly.

Helen, we stayed at the Hostellerie Saint Louis for a night last December. My husband had had to go to Belgium on buiness and I tagged along too so we arranged to stay en route to Calais on the way back before doing the Tesco wine shop. We did the 33Euro dinner menu which was absolutely fantastic - the little appetizers at the start were lovely. Hoping to do the same again sometime this year
