Songs..

Post by Sue Dyer »

We've had threads on films and books so here's songs covered..

Other day I was searching out old vinyl to put onto CD and found "Letter from America" (Proclaimers) I played it, hub (Dave) and I sang along at the top of our voices to it. I really like that song (when we're not singing it..) Anyway, I commented to him, "that's one of those songs that gives me goosebumps" and he knew just what I meant. He said his GB song is "Fairy Tale of New York) Pogues.

So - is there a song that sends shivers up your spine and makes the hairs stand up on your arms..? What's your GB song??

Also to consider:
Songs that make you feel cheerful. Mine are:
The Wonder of You - Elvis (who could not smile when that is being blasted out especially badly on a karaoke!!)
Viva Las Vegas - Elvis
It must be Love - Madness
This Charming Man - Morrissey

and lastly - songs you'd have played at your funeral :)
Mine are Viva Las Vegas (Elvis) and "I'll fly away" (Alison Krauss/Gillian Welsh from O Brother Where Art Thou)

any other song catagory suggestions??

Goosebump songs:
"The Pretender," Jackson Browne
"Piano Concerto No. 1 In E Minor, Op. 11: Romance (Larghetto)", Fryderyk Chopin

Cheerful Songs:
The Blues Brothers soundtrack
'Sing, Sing, Sing" (swing)

Funeral Song:
Honestly, I've never thought about it!

But I have thought about...

Song I Must Dance To:
"Coconut", Harry Nilsson

Seriously, unless I'm in a church or at a funeral I simply must move when that song is on.

excellent!!!

My song "I must sing along with" rather than dance to is "Come on Eileen" (Dexy's) I'm the worst singer in the world too but that doesn't stop me. I like singing when I'm vacuuming then no one can hear me :)
