Back to Spain - we are looking for a January - February kind of place similar to Au Chicot where we can have warm weather in the mid 20'sC. Something that hasn't been overrun by tourism.
Uncertain as to whether it would be just the two of them but I can check. Meanwhile any ideas? He loves Roman ruins, but I'm sure his main criteria are those above - and being Canadian, distance (for ruins) would be no object! I have to add: they were the perfect guests! :D
Would they notice the difference if you sent them to Tunisia? Apart from not being in Spain, it fits the bill.

There are many Roman remains in Spain, but at that time of the year we think they will be pushed to find temps in the 20s too.
Anyway here are some of the Roman high lights of Spain.
Savilla - Italica (Roman ruins just outside of the city). Some remains in musum.
Barcelona - There is 1300M of roman wall.
Cáceres – World heritage site
Bolonia – More roman remains
Baelo Claudia - (could be the above but if not they are close by)
Merida - impressive amount of remains.
Tarragona – walls aqueducts and amphitheatre.
Lugo - World Heritage site with the only complete walled city which dates back to Roman times in Europe. Lots of remains near by and in the museum.
Las Medulas – Roman gold mines. World Heritage site.
Leon - part of a Roman wall.
Juliobriga - roman city.
Numantia - more remains.
The list is endless. Now all they have to do is choose what to see.
Note, this is list is not complete, but we have to attend to guests!

Lots of great suggestions GG :D
as Brenda and Fern have said they might be being a bit optimistic for them sort of temperatures.
We do get warm January days, where we are,and when we go to ours we often sit sunbathing on the patio[its south facing] but we can go to the front of the house, and it can be quite chilly. Its chilly at night as well.

Lots of good info here though.I really must explore the rest of Spain one of these days, theres so much to see
