The information on the link is slightly inaccurate. The current 'phone number 0844 8244 400, they last 3 years, they cost £20 and they give you ITV2, ITV3, Channel 4 and 5 which are encrypted (?) as well as all the usual stuff. Not sure if it offers you Dave as well (a channel called Dave? yup, might be boys only).

No, Dave isn't included, you have to pay for all the old re-runs of Whose Line is it Anyway. But for Ch 4 and 5 fans (CSI, Hotel Inspector) they are worth having for a one off payment of £20 (plus the box, of course!) I'd ditch the pay Sky package I have, except that I'd be lost without Sky+.

QI? My favourite TV programme. There are a few good programmes on French TV, but no comedy of the standard of QI, Mock the Week, HIGNFY, etc. And as for radio, no News Quiz, Just a Minute, ISIHAC or Archers.

Hello Normandy Cow! Well I'm in France at the moment, and I've just asked my sat-box to run a new scan.

As a result, I now have all BBC, all ITV, all CH 4 (including its family), plus a handfull of others in English. I also have all the main BBC radio channels (1 - 7) plus loads of others to choose from. Basically, out of 3,800+ available channels, I have constructed a "Favourites" list of 40 (all English language except for a couple which are good in French), all available to my guests "at the touch of a button"!

I am told that Ch5 (and its siblings) will be free to air in the next few weeks, for those who want to add that on as well.

So check your instruction book and go for it! (Or get a local sat-man in, if you feel dodgy).

Bonne chance!

Yep, brrr! indeed, woodburner lit tonight for the first time since April! I don't think I could live on a diet of French TV alone, although Capital and LRELA and Thalassa are good. I'd miss QI, MTW, HIGNFY, The Restaurant, Masterchef and Strictly (for my daughter of course  ) too much...

I didn't mean they are French, Cassis, I meant they are in French, eg Euronews or TV Mont Blanc.

Mols

(ps LV - I was swimming in our pool this afternoon - only 19 degrees, but do-able. Getting chilly now though, brrr)

Hey Mols, our pool is 27°c under the abri, but it was only 12°c outside today here! In the pool is great, it is just getting out again that is the problem.
Lovely to have the fire on again, though, can't wait to get out with the chainsaw again next weekend to cut wood for the guests :? and get the next 6 cordes stacked...

Lucky you, LV! I tried to buy some logs at M. Bricolage yesterday, but they won't have any more until next week! Maybe I'll try Castorama tomorrow . . .

Slightly chilly Mols
