I'm back...

Post by Sue Dyer »

........ but not my luggage!!!!

Just back from vacation/holiday 8) (I'll be in dual speech mode for a few weeks til I settle back :) )

Had a great time in California/Nevada. We:
  • Stayed with friends in L.A
Saw the Dodgers win a nailbiting baseball game 5/4 last innings
Shopped til we dropped in the malls
Saw the biggest tree in the world at Sequoia National Park
Stayed in the Awahannee in Yosemite (real posh $$$$ hotel!!)
Hiked in Yosemite and were awed at the waterfalls
Hiked in Death Valley in 101 heat (only 3 miles though!)
Woken by a ringtail cat raid at 4 a.m - they opened the screen door to our room (Yosemite) and pinched pack of trail mix.
Saw other critters like skunks, snakes, roadrunner, coyotes but no bears
Got very mellow on many free Corona's, turned $20 into $132.50 on the roulette in Vegas AND walked away winning
Sweltered as the temp hit 110 in Vegas
Saw Penn & Teller (and met them!) and Zumanity shows in Vegas
and spied Sir Bobby Charlton at Heathrow airport!!!
Much much more too, great fun packing this all into a couple of weeks but very tired now and I hope my case shows up soon or ever... Some photos shortly!

Hope all is going well for everyone. I refused to worry about my rental which was in my sisters very capable hands, worst happened was a broken plate and glass (they left £10!) and as usual all guests said "we'll be back"!!!

Welcome back,

It sounds like you had a fabulous holiday. You actually got out of Vegas a winner. Been there about five times and I can't say I ever left with more than I started ... Well done

Did you get a chance to see the Venitian Casino... I thought it was awesome.
So you wanted a holiday home in france ...

Welcome back!

I remember the Awahannee -- we always camped when we visited, and when we drove by the hotel, it was always a "look, a hotel we can't afford -- oh well, we like sleeping bags and bear bags anyway!" moment.

Sounds like you had a fabulous time! :)
