I wonder how they pick them and do the owners have to pay for such a juicy piece of advertising???
Any LMHers in here?

Infuriating: there are plenty of beautiful villas in our area than can be booked for less than GBP200 per person per week (most in fact) How on earth does one reach these journos and what is so special about Northern Spain - the south hardly got a look in?
For true domestic harmony it is essential that dogs know their place, which is below all cats

They probably all pay a lot for advertising with the Times using classified ads or they are advertised with tour operators (the one in Brittany certainly is on the list of a tour operator).
I posed the question on Twitter today about why there was such a downer on rental listing sites and booking direct with the owner compared to all the tour operators they feature, and the answer (from a Times travel journalist) was that the tour operators had taken a huge percentage of the classified newspaper ads that owners used to take out with newspapers before the listing sites existed.

Quite probably because they also get a huge discount for volume advertising, yet for single / smaller owners the rates have gone up to supplement them.
Its easy selling advertising to ONE large source (even if ads look like individual personal ads) than it is actually working for a living and selling the same to 200 individuals.
Just another example of lazy practises and corporate greed.
