Home Exchange Warning!

Post by apexblue »

I've always waxed lyrical about home exchanges having done 5 very successfully. However the 6th to France was not and I just wished the bloody fishermen had continued with their blockade for an extra day as exchange would then be cancelled.

The holiday did not start well.
OH not leaving enough time to get to airport.
Waiting now for the speeding ban.
Me not printing boarding passes and frog marched to Ryanair.
Me bursting into tears and going to stay with my mother.
Get to house exchange. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY.
Sleep on sofas (sitting room only habitable part)
Find lovely gite with English owners on site cost 200 euros.
OH gets lost 3 times getting to airport.
Man has heart attack in front of us on return to Liverpool.
OH gets lost twice leaving airport.

So the essence is get testermonials and pictures of the bedroom and en suite you will be using!

Have emailed our French counterparts to express our disgust who had a lovely time in Conwy but surprise surprise - no reply.

It is better to remain quiet and have one think you are stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt....

The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time.

So sorry to hear of the disastrous hols apexblue. Perhaps you should let the exchange listing site know of this - can you post comments on it?

I'm thinking of doing an UK exchange for next year..... :?

Sorry to hear this apexblue - what a awful experience.

We, like you, have had several successful exchanges with other holiday home owners. I agree with Pambon, is there anyway you can post comments or get in touch with the site to warn other potential swappers?

Just waiting for a book to be returned then will get all guns firing in exchangers direction.
